• Step 1 – Put your hemp flower in the grinder to reduce to a course-fine consistency but not dust in or to have the best consistency for maximum CBD extraction.
• Considering Step 2 – The next process is to decarboxylate the hemp flower. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and spread the ground-up flowers evenly onto it. Place in an oven heated to 225ºF to bake for an hour. Decarboxylation is to convert the inactive CBDA into active CBD but without losing any of the other natural compounds like the valuable terpenes. It will be lightly brown and crisp at the end of the 60 minutes.
• Considering Step 3 — Next, let’s look at how to mix the flowers and the oil. That is how the extraction process works. Take your double boiler and place both the flowers and the carrier oil in the top of the double boiler. Then fill the bottom of the double boiler with about half full of water.  Heat ONLY to a simmer. If the simmer passes 150º C, the terpenes will evaporate, and you do not want this. After about 2–3 hours, you will have a product looking brownish-green.
• Considering Step 4 — Carefully remove the top of the double boiler with hemp and oil from the heated water and put on potholder on the counter. Place the coffee filter over the top of your dark glass jar. Pour the mixture into the container. Make sure as much drains into your glass jar. Seal the glass jar and store in a cool, dry dark place.

• 1/2 cups of coconut oil
• Saucepan
• Cheesecloth
• 8 T of collagen gelatin

• Raw honey or sugar-free maple syrup
• Blended fruit of choice but cherry or blueberries are suggested
• Gummy silicone molds of your desired shape

 

Decarb Process

Decarb your flower to make oil by:

Preheating your oven at 230 degrees. Place your crumbled CBD hemp flower in a glass ovenware. Place in the oven for two hours or when the flower turns from green to medium brown.

 

CBD Oil Process

Place ½ cup of coconut oil in a saucepan and heat until it is 180 degrees on a candy thermometer. Now it is time to place 2 grams of decarboxylated hemp flower in the pan and lower the heat to low simmer for 1.5 hours. Stir occasionally. After cooling slightly strain everything through a cheesecloth into a bowl. Squeeze as much through the cloth as possible.

 

Step Two:

• Reduce the fruit you have chosen to a puree,
• Measure out ½ cup fruit puree into a small saucepan and sprinkle the 8 T of gelatin over the liquid. Let it stand for 2 minutes.
• Add honey or sugar-free Maple Syrup
• Stir for 3-5 minutes on low heat until it is well-mix evenly.
• Stir a specific amount of CBD oil that you squeezed through the cheesecloth

 

Molding and Chiling

• Using a funnel, pour the balm in each tube. You will have upwards of 50 tubes worth of lip balm.
• Leave at room temperature over night to cure then store at room temperature.  It is advisable to use within six months.
