=============================================

The 2018 Farm Bill changed the landscape of all things hemp when it legalized hemp farming and the sale of hemp and CBD oil derived from hemp. As a result, hemp farmers sprang into action to crossbreed one hemp strain after another to provide a smorgasbord of savors, looks and experiences.

Inside the Hemp Plant Farm – The Economics of Hemp

Hemp was one of the first crops to ever be cultivated and domesticated by humans.  As the hemp farming started, farmers and cultivators were conservative with their projections so started with one to five acres. Then the demand started spiraling upward and outward, so the farmers kicked it into high gear and started planting 50-acre plots.

The economics of hemp growing is simple. The farmers are multiplying the acres in which they are planting hemp; they are crossbreeding to magnificent strains with higher and higher CBD content which means possibly more health benefits for an increasing number of Americans with chronic health conditions. The consumer is demanding more product as they are experiencing less pain, anxiety and side effects of inflammation. The pleasure of smoking hemp flower is replacing nicotine with a product that has health benefits.

Inside the Hemp Plant Farm — The Lady Bug and The Hemp Plant

Ladybugs are among the most effective predatory insects that is a total blessing for hemp farmers. We all love these brightly colored little bugs, but they are good for more being admired. You may think that they appear innocent, but they are far from being innocent. The hemp plant fields series I tells us that ladybugs are voracious killing machines. They do not give offer a bad odor to their opponent or any other specialized trapping device.  The ladybug simply walks right up to their prey and start eating them.

Ladybugs love to munch on spider mites which is one of the pests that hemp farmers wage war with. They know how to track them down because they are attracted to the smell of the spider mites. Ladybugs are smart because they recognize the leaf damage the spider mite leaves in its wake.

Inside the Hemp Plant Farm — Vertical Growing of Hemp Plants

There is an art to it and some strains of hemp flower grow very tall so would not work in vertical farming. The hemp flower strains that have big buds and are short stocky plants will be the best choice for vertical farming. These stocky hemp plants also have fewer leaves and need fewer leaves so less defoliation needs to be done.  A note here is that some farmers may not be confident defoliators, so this is something to consider also.

These particular strains will mature into a flower before gaining much height in the vegetative stage. It is also advantageous to vertical farming to choose the strains which are mostly disease resistant. Vertical farming is designed to maximize space on many levels, but it is important to be able to see the entirety of the plant to prevent unnoticed mold or mildew time to spread.

Inside the Hemp Plant Farm – Growing Hemp Organically is Best

When bugs and insects start causing havoc on your hemp farm bring out the soap bottle. Mix 1 teaspoon of any natural dish or castile soap with a quart of water in a spray bottle and you’ve got a powerful weapon against most pests. Do want to know why it works? It is because of the fatty acids in the soap. These fatty acids wear away at the insect’s shells and eventually kills them.

Bugs cannot stand the stench of garlic so you can use that to your advantage and as a natural pesticide. Dice up some hot peppers and bulb of garlic then blend together with a cup of water. Strain the liquid into a spray bottle to use as a strong repellant to make those bugs go running.
