Hemp Terpene beta-Ocimene – The Basics
Ocimenes are a group of isomeric hydrocarbons. The ocimenes are monoterpenes found within a variety of plants \’\’and fruits. They are used in perfumery for their sweet herbal scent \’\’and are believed to act as plant defense \’\’and have anti-fungal properties. Like the related acyclic terpene myrcene, ocimenes are unstable in air.
Ocimene has shown to work great when combined with other terpenes, including alpha-pinene \’\’and myrcene. In hemp, terpenes \’\’and other compounds such as cannabinoids, work together to produce more potent effects but there are some terpenes that even work better when combined with certain other terpenes.
Hemp Terpene beta-Ocimene – The Effects \’\’and Benefits
Beta-Ocimene has been noted for its effects on cytokine suppression, which means a reduction in inflammatory response. Ocimene is a monoterpene that gives the hemp plant its woody smell \’\’and an almost floral sweetness. This terpene is used in a number of fragrances. Aside from hemp, beta-ocimene is in each of these herbs \’\’and foods:
Health benefits of Ocimene are its antifungal, antiviral, \’\’and anti-inflammatory properties. This is why it is particularly effective at calming Cytokine Storms which is what happens when individuals get Covid-19 \’\’and other respiratory conditions. This terpene works best if combined with other compounds to help create the Entourage Effect.

- CBG-Infused Special Sauce — Special Sauce is an Indica hybrid containing at least 18 unique terpenes including ocimene, myrcene, caryophyllene \’\’and pinene. CBD is averaged out between 14 – 19% \’\’and it has also infused CBG to make it an amazing flower.
- Lifter Hemp Flower — This particular strain carries up to 24% CBD \’\’and 16% CBDA for a total CBD impact of 40%. The Lifter, a greenhouse grown hemp plant, is a beauty of the Indica dominant strain.
- Elektra Hemp Flower — Elektra is a sativa-dominant cross maintaining between 16% – 22% CBD content along with 0.3% THC or less. Elektra hemp flowers have a sticky to the touch feel \’\’and buds of green \’\’and orange.
“Terpene Effects” Last
It is common knowledge that terpenes are largely responsible for the flavor \’\’and aroma of the various hemp flowers. But, what is not as well known is that terpenes are also responsible for enhancing the therapeutic health benefits of the hemp flowers. There may be more than 20,000 terpenes in nature but only about 100 are currently known about to exist in the hemp plant.
When two different hemp plants have identical cannabinoid structures but different terpenes, the user will have two very different experiences. Terpenes have a significant impact on how the hemp interacts with the Endocannabinoid System.
