The states hemp cultivation throughout the United States exploded in growth since the signing of the 2018 Farm Bill. So, hemp cultivation \’\’and hemp flower harvesting is legal on a federal basis. Some states, however, have chosen to keep the illegal status on all things hemp. It is advisable to know which states these are in case you are living in one of them or are travelling through one.
States Hemp Cultivation – Considering Oregon
Since 2018, CBD hemp buds in Oregon are celebrated as integral for its health benefits \’\’and lauded for the pleasures of recreation smoking. Hemp is also quickly becoming a substantial agriculture asset giving farmers in many states a financially stable crop.
The states hemp cultivation \’\’and explosive growth in Oregon shows 62,000 acres of hemp are growing which gives a 427% increase over acres grown in 2018. By 2019, the acreage was up to almost 2,000 farmers growing 62,000 acres.
There are many hemp strains grown in Oregon as well as other states, but here are a few CBD hemp buds in Oregon.
- Suver Haze
- Special Sauce
- Oregon OG – 12% to 21% CBD
States Hemp Cultivation – Looking at New Mexico
By 2019 when hemp because legal in New Mexico, 1.2 million started plants were sold to courageous farmers. The plan for coming years is in the 6 million to 10 million starter plants. The New Mexico Department of Agriculture issued more than 400 hemp cultivation licenses in 2019 which at best exceeded expectations.
The states hemp cultivation shows optimal growing conditions in New Mexico \’\’and particularly in the southern half of the state. There just happens to be an abundance of cheap l\’\’and which contributes to an influx of l\’\’and to be plowed up for planting hemp.
Many of the strains that that adapted well to the climate of New Mexico yielded CBD levels between 14% \’\’and 23%. For the majority of the new growing seasons, New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA) will be accepting applications \’\’and issuing both Annual \’\’and Continuous Hemp Commercial Research Production Licenses under New Mexico’s 2019 rule \’\’and polices.
The New Mexico Economic Development Department has designated “sustainable \’\’and value-added agriculture” as one of eight key industries to focus on in the future years.
States Hemp Cultivation – Eyes on Nevada
Nevada dives into CBD hemp growing like a man with a mission. Nevada law allows for the sale of Hemp-CBD products. However, not every category of Hemp-CBD products is sold legally in the state. Selling CBD-infused foods \’\’and dietary supplements comes under the category of “illegal” throughout the state. Then there are other products like smokable hemp which is not authorized nor prohibited.
The states hemp cultivation for Nevada says in Chapter 557 of the Nevada Revised Statutes (“NRS”) legalized the sale of Hemp-CBD products “intended for human consumption,” \’\’and for topical application to the skin or hair of a human.
In 2018, Congress passed the Farm Bill \’\’and legalized states hemp cultivation, creating a pathway to remove cannabis from Schedule 1. The Farm Bill defined hemp as cannabis that contains less than 0.3% THC by weight \’\’and marijuana as cannabis with more than 0.3%.
Hemp-derived CBD was thus removed from its Schedule 1 designation, but CBD derived from the federally illegal marijuana plant is still considered federally illegal, too. Hemp is considered an agricultural commodity, but must be produced \’\’and sold under specific federal regulations, which were not finalized when hemp was legalized.
