CBD stands for cannabidiol which is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in the hemp plant.  Marijuana also has the CBD cannabinoid but in very slight percentage. We are looking at terminology today in regard to CBD extract or is it hemp extract?

Hemp Extract or CBD Oil Extract – All the Extracts

Hemp seed oil is oil obtained by pressing hemp seeds. Cold pressed, unrefined hemp oil is dark to clear light green in color, with a nutty flavor. But hemp seed oil is not hemp extract. Hemp oil typically has more nutritional benefits, while CBD oil is best for treating the conditions such as anxiety and depression.  Then hemp seed oil is different than hemp oil and CBD oil is different than hemp oil. Hemp seed oil has no CBD in it but is good for nutritional purposes. Many use it in baking. Now we are to hemp extract and CBD oil extract.

Hemp Extract or CBD Oil Extract – They Could be the Same

Some things labeled “hemp oil” might actually be hemp seed oil but neither have CBD oil in it. So hemp extract is basically the same as CBD oil extract. Some companies are changing from labeling their product as “CBD oil extract” to hemp extract and here is the reason why. Unfortunately there are companies out there who are trying to put a cheap unverified product on the market and call it CBD oil.

Hemp extract or CBD oil extract covers questions of what is exactly in the product we buy from our vendor. It may be a synthetic oil or something else that resembles CBD oil. There is some regulations for testing, etc but it is unregulated to a large extent. What we all have called CBD oil really is more that simply CBD if it is full spectrum so using the terminology of hemp extract is really more accurate.

Hemp Extract or CBD Oil Extract – Summing it Up

One of the problems here is that FDA has not come up with set guidelines with how to use these words and the perimeters for the product.  In fact, many of the terminology is interchangeable.

The CBD marketplace is expanding so rapidly that industry standards are not keeping up with it. “Hemp oil” and “hemp seed oil” are not interchangeably with CBD oil extract. But “CBD oil extract” is interchangeable with “hemp extract.”

“Extract or Extract” Last

When you go to the CBD store you shop at, be sure you are familiar with all the terminology so that you purchase what you need. Ask for the Certificate of Analysis on the product that you purchase so you know the potency of the product. Hemp oil and hemp seed oil is useful for your health; it just does not have CBD in it.
